What is the 40 Day Advent Discipline Challenge?
at it’s most basic, it’s quite simple:
Commit with us to pushing back against the busyness of the season by intentionally and determinedly carving out a minimum of 30 minutes a day throughout the holiday season to spend alone with God: reorienting ourselves to the center of our lives, the reason for our lives, the goal of our lives.
For some of you, we know that this is already a daily habit, and we are inviting you to commit to making this season special by spending more time alone with God than you usually do - perhaps an hour? perhaps more?
For others of you, this WAS a daily habit for you once upon a time, but you have allowed the busyness of life to erode your commitment to making a DAILY practice of unplugging from the world and spending time with Jesus. We believe that this Advent season is the perfect time for you to take back this lost practice, to ground your daily life in the things that matter most. It may sound impractical, even impossible: “do you have any idea how full my calendar is right now?” Yes, I think we have some idea. But One of the key tenents of the Warriors path is that commitments like this are surprisingly easier to keep when you make them in partnership with a like-minded band of brothers and sisters.
And then for some of you prayer, down-time, reflection, grounding, going deep into the things of the soul — these just haven’t ever really been “your thing.” But then, you’ve probably noticed that your internal reserves for dealing with life tend to get awfully depleted, and, well, what have you got to lose? After all, we were created to walk in relationship with our Heavenly Father, so when we voluntarily opt out of that incredible privilege, odds are we are going to feel that loss at the soul level. Don’t you think its worth giving daily time with Jesus a serious try?
